A collaboration with art director Marc Vermeeren for ØLÅF SS20 'Growth and Development' collection.

Inspired by a MIT research in plant nanobionics we envisioned three ways flowers could grow and evolve in order to thrive in the future; hybrid species, shiny protective layers and warmth through self illumination.

‘Chrysanthus Lucerna’

Combination of: Chrysanth, Sunflower

To survive colder climates and seasons, some flowers developed a small source of warmth. Emitting shimmers of light in the dark through self illumination.

‘Helianthus Agapanthus’

Combination of: Sunflower, Lily of the Nile

Thanks to globalisation and an ever shrinking world hybrid flowers started to form out in nature in order to sustain under different circumstances.

‘Hydrangevia Nobilis’

Combination of: Hortensia, Greentip Forest Lily

Over the years they developed a glossy film around them creating a protective layer against the elements and future predators.
